The real David and Jeane Lepper have lived in Brighton for over 30 years. Their son, Joe – a journalist – and their daughter, Eve – a nursery nurse - were born here and went to Balfour and Dorothy Stringer Schools. David Lepper was a teacher in local State secondary schools for over 25 years. David was a local councillor for 17 years, was the first ever Labour leader of Brighton Council and was Mayor of Brighton in 1993-94. Successfully putting the case for Assisted Area Status to help bring new businesses and jobs for local people, establishing the National Minimum Wage, reform of the unfair leasehold laws, tougher environmental protection and improving our town centres, have been political priorities for David. At Westminster David Lepper is a member of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee and chairs the Broadcasting Select Committee. He is also chair of the cross-party groups on Town centre management and EnglishLanguage Teaching. A public transport user David welcomes Labour's ten-year plan for investment in our bus and rail network.

David, before the 1997 General Election you promised (and its as a matter of record) that you would only stand for two terms. Now that you are due to finish your second term are you going to keep your promise?
